- Fill out the DS-82 form, which is the application for a U.S. Passport by Mail. You can find the form on the U.S. Department of State website.
- Submit the form along with your most recent passport, a passport photo, and the fee for renewing a passport. You must also include any additional documentation required, such as proof of name change.
- Submit your application and required documents by mail to the address provided on the DS-82 form.
- Wait for your renewed passport to arrive in the mail. The processing time for passport renewals can vary, so be sure to check the U.S. Department of State website for the current processing time.
Note: If your passport is expired more than 5 years, you will have to apply for a new passport in person by following the steps for first time passport application.
